Why should banks make all the money?
Need a small business loan, loan for your education, or a loan to make improvements to your home? Then consider peer to peer lending. People just like you and me can lend money to people who need it and make money on it.

Prosper, America's largest people-to-people lending marketplace, connects people who need to borrow money with people who have money to lend.
Connecting people-to-people eliminates the need for borrowers to go through a bank for a loan, and lenders can expect more from their money while helping fellow Americans.
Prosper, America's largest people-to-people lending marketplace, was created to make consumer lending more financially and socially rewarding for everyone.
The way Prosper works is intuitive to people who have used an online auction. Instead of listing and bidding on items, people list and bid on loans using Prosper's online auction platform.
People who register as Prosper lenders set the minimum interest rate they are willing to earn and bid in increments of $50 to $25,000 on loan listings they select. In addition to criteria commonly used by institutional lenders, such as credit scores and histories, Prosper lenders can consider borrowers' personal stories, endorsements from friends, and group affiliations.
Borrowers create loan listings for up to $25,000 and set the maximum rate they are willing to pay a lender. Then the auction begins as Prosper lenders can bid down the interest rate. Once the auction ends, Prosper takes the bids with the lowest rates and combines them into one simple loan to the borrower. Prosper handles all on-going loan administration tasks including loan repayment and collections on behalf of the matched borrower and lenders.
Prosper's rigid privacy policy reflects co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Chris Larsen's longstanding history as an advocate of stringent consumer financial privacy protection laws and practices. Prosper does not sell, rent, or share members' personal information with third party marketers. Prosper members are in control of how much personal information—if any—is revealed on the website and with other members. Prosper's security and identity verification systems are state of the art, and consistent with those used by banks, brokerages and institutional creditors.
Prosper generates revenue by collecting a one-time 1% to 3% fee on funded loans from borrowers, and assessing a 1% per annum loan servicing fee to lenders. Backed by Accel Partners, Benchmark Capital, DAG Ventures, Fidelity Ventures, Meritech Capital Partners, and Omidyar Network, Prosper has raised $40 million. Prosper's marketplace platform is patent pending.

Peer-to-peer lending?
Have you heard of new places online cropping up offering peer-to-peer lending? There are a couple I’ve looked into. One is called Prosper. The idea is that instead of going to a ban for financing you can have people finance you. Maybe Donna from Chicago puts $100.00 towards your loan and 35% interest rate. Yes, so the lenders also make money and help someone out. The borrowers can get a loan and then they pay it back the same they would with any other loan.
I think this is a very innovative idea. The banks better watch out!! As a real estate agent interested in homes and believeing that everyone deserves a home. I have checked out the home improvement requests and made a loan or two.
It’s disheartening to see so many homes with roof damage and the insurance companies not paying so people have to get loans to pay for something the insurance company should be paying for. Oh did I mention? There are categories where the person describes what they need the loan for and how much they need. Voyeuristic goodwill. hahaha

There’s also another one that is specifically for students who needs loans for school and it’s called Fynanz. Another brilliant idea! A a low-cost private student loan benefiting both borrowers and lenders. Students apply for loans in an auction marketplace and receive the most competitive rates. Lenders bid on student listings and can place bids in small amounts across many borrowers to diversify and lower risk while getting attractive returns.

We need clean energy today!

Americans are paying the price -- a record $4 a gallon -- for the Bush administration's disastrous energy policies.
We have the opportunity to change course -- to take steps that give consumers real relief, put us on the path to a clean energy economy and end Big Oil's chokehold on our economy. The Senate is about to vote again on the Consumer-First Energy Act of 2008 (S. 3044). But we need Senator John McCain's help - and yours - to get it passed.
Right now, Senator McCain is running ads in Ohio featuring wind turbines and images of clean energy sources, yet Senator McCain opposes requiring the use of wind and solar power to generate electricity.1
Americans deserve action on clean energy. So we’ve put together a radio ad this week to persuade Senator McCain to support the Consumer-First Energy Act. But we need to raise up to $75,000 to run our ad in Ohio - will you chip in $25 to help run this radio ad asking John McCain to do more than just TALK about clean energy - but to actually VOTE for clean energy?
Although Senator McCain continually references clean energy, he's argued against incentives for the clean energy industry2 while demanding billions in subsidies for nuclear power3 and refusing to impose windfall profits taxes on Big Oil.4
With your help we can ensure that Senator McCain hears from people like us - people who are squeezed by the high cost of energy and eager to transition to cheaper, cleaner choices.
We need to get word to Senator McCain that he should put consumers first. There’s no time to waste
Together we’ll tell him to stop spinning windmills and start supporting them by voting for the Consumer-First Energy Act of 2008.
And together, we’ll make sure Senator McCain hears from ALL the people, not just the special interests.

2 Marines disciplined over puppy-tossing video
(CNN) -- The U.S. Marine Corps has disciplined two Marines over a videotape that showed a Marine throwing a puppy over a cliff, the military said Wednesday.
Officials did not specify the role that each man played in the incident, which received international attention after a video of it appeared on YouTube.com March 3.
Lance Cpl. David Motari is being processed for removal for his role, the Marine Corps said, and Sgt. Crismarvin Banez Encarnacion also has been punished.
The video shows someone throwing a black-and-white puppy off a rocky cliff. The dog makes a yelping sound as it flies through the air.
"That's mean. That was mean," someone off-camera is heard saying.
YouTube removed the video about a day after it was posted, "due to terms of use violation," the site said.
The Marines were quick to condemn the video when it surfaced, calling it "shocking and deplorable."
Marine officials said the disciplinary action followed a thorough investigation, according to a statement that the Marine Corps Base Hawaii released Wednesday.
"The actions seen in the Internet video are contrary to the high standards we expect of every Marine and will not be tolerated," the statement said

David Mortari - Puppy Killer
I just saw this video for the first time today. I hadn't even heard of it and stumbled upon a blog that mentioned it. Went to you tube and saw it. I will not post that video here or put a link to it because its sick and twisted. If you want to watch it you can find it yourself.
This moron David Mortari - Puppy Killer----he will most likely forever be known as that and he should (you have to be seriously messed up in the head to even be capable of doing that) deserves a dishonorable discharge and he should have to explain his actions and be publicly ridiculed for what he's done. Make a huge donation to the Humane Society and do public service. My god, serial killers start out killing animals. And to the people that say its only a puppy??!! Every one of us is important even the smallest of us.
If people can say that it's ok to kill a puppy then this country and society is moving in a scary direction. I do not think it's ok for people to harass his family They didn't do anything. He did it and should take responsibility for his own actions...hes a grown-up.
I also don't think people going around and leaving comments saying he should be killed is ok either. The very reason so many people are outraged is because he took a life. How in the world is taking his life any different?? You don't teach anyone anything by punishing them they same way. He obviously needs extensive psychological counseling.
I can only imagine how ashamed and scared his family is. Leave them alone people!!!! Since when is someone else responsible for his actions. That's just as insane as what he did. Your not being rational if you think its ok to attack his family whether its by calling them or writing them. Whatever. Leave them alone.
Are you outraged...want to do something? Then start a petiton to make sure he is dealt with the right away. Send a clear message about what human decency entails. Write the government about it. But do not harass his family. Their are more constructive ways to get your message across and make a difference. That being said I would still like to punch him in the face.
UPDATE:
This blog shows emails for marines that you can send your concerned thoughts to. Is there an action being taken againts this coward??

I am looking around at different webpages that tell you how you can make money just surfing around the internet. I just found one called Bux.to and have signed up and just started looking at their program today. I have some friends who have been ripped off badly by some of these websites(not this one) so I thought I’d give some of the free ones a go and document it for the benefit of others.
I clicked on 6 different websites today and had to wait for 30 seconds—-it does show you in the upper left corner how long you have been on there and when the 30 seconds is up you get a green checkmark so it shows I have earned .09 and under my account balance it shows .15 I think there was like a .06 sign up bonus.
It does mention you can request payment once your account hits $10.00. My referral link is
http://bux.to/?r=kami63116
I’m not sure how much they give you for referrals. Wait let me see if it says….Ahhhh so it mentions you can buy referrers from them and that will help you make more money. Hmm….that must be how they make their money. Getting people to buy referrers and make money faster?? I guess. I think though if people sign up underneath you than you get something from that? Maybe a penny for thier clicks…I’m not quite sure about that yet. I would need people to sign up under my link to really see what the benefit of that is.
So basically it looks like to me that what they are doing with this website is this. You can pay like $19.00 to get 1000 views on your website so that helps people get traffic which can help them get a higher google rate and the people who are looking at these websites get paid for doing it…only .01 a look, but I think they are hoping a lot more people will start doing this and that way everyone involved makes money. I could be wrong, but the whole charging for referrers is their direct way of making money now–the website that is.
